John V. Bonito of Westwood, NJ passed with peace and grace on September 13. A beloved brother, uncle & great-uncle, John was born in Jersey City, NJ to Fiore & Angelina Bonito. Predeceased by his brother Randy. Survived by sister Marie O'Donnell, brother Fred, & numerous loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.


After serving in the Army during the Korean War, John earned a business degree from Seton Hall University. He entered the family business, Lina Dress Company, and ran it until his father's passing. Later, John spent many years...

Predeceased by his brother Randy. Survived by sister Marie O'Donnell, brother Fred, & numerous loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.


After serving in the Army during the Korean War, John earned a business degree from Seton Hall University. He entered the family business, Lina Dress Company, and ran it until his father's passing. Later, John spent many years as a tax preparer for H&R Block.


During his 87 years, John enjoyed competitive trap shooting, working with cars and computers, and most of all, being with family. He was treasurer for the Bergen-Passaic Chapter of Mended Hearts, a national nonprofit supporting heart patients and their families.


Visitation is at Becker Funeral Home, Westwood on Sunday, Sept 17 from 2-6PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Church of the Assumption in Emerson on Monday, Sept 18 at 10AM, with burial at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City.


John will be remembered as a sweet-natured man, with the skills to repair just about anything and a willingness to help just about anybody. In lieu of flowers, John's wish is that you go out and enjoy life.
