Robert F. Kenney, age 89, of Park Ridge, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 15, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 20, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York to John (Jack) Kenney and Cecelia Cleary. He joined the US Navy as a teenager, and sailed on the USS Spangenberg just as WWII was ending. He was a pilot by hobby, and later flew DC-3s for Capitol airlines. He worked for the Borough of Park Ridge for 27 years, and retired as the Director of Operations in 1992. Bob was an active...

Robert F. Kenney, age 89, of Park Ridge, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 15, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 20, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York to John (Jack) Kenney and Cecelia Cleary. He joined the US Navy as a teenager, and sailed on the USS Spangenberg just as WWII was ending. He was a pilot by hobby, and later flew DC-3s for Capitol airlines. He worked for the Borough of Park Ridge for 27 years, and retired as the Director of Operations in 1992. Bob was an active member of the Civil Air Patrol for over three decades, and was awarded honors for the work he did after 9/11. A lifelong volunteer, he dedicated his time to Our Lady of Mercy Church, Meals on Wheels, search and rescue missions for the CAP, and spent a month in Homestead, Fl. helping to get power to the area after Hurricane Andrew.
Beloved husband of Marion Kenney. Devoted father of James Kenney and his wife Donna, Susan Kenney and her husband Thomas Trotta, Christopher Kenney and his wife Kelly. Loving grandfather of James Kenney, Jr., Jason Kenney (Jacquelin), Theresa Cervoni (Brian), Haylie and Megan Kenney. Cherished great grandfather of Chase, Quinn, Paige, Justin and Collin. Dear brother of Rev. Michael Mulhall. He is predeceased by his siblings John "Jack" Kenney (Eileen) and Cecilia Torr (Peter). The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 4-8PM. The Funeral Mass celebrating Bob's life and faith will be held at Our Lady of Mercy R.C. Church, Park Ridge, NJ on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 9:30AM. Interment will follow at Cemetery of the Ascension, Airmont, NY.
